| Vista Ultimate x64 | Files Missing From Index Hi, I have added D:\Music to the index locations in Indexing Options. It is displaying the message Indexing Complete however when i search for files that I know exist in this folder it doesn't find them. Most of the files are MP3s and I have checked that they are included in the types of files to be indexed. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thanks George |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Files Missing From Index Hi Airbot Yes I am doing advanced search. I've left location on indexed locations and put a that appears in a files name in the "name" box. I left the search box next to the address bar empty. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Files Missing From Index Hi George, and welcome to Vista Forums. The Index only runs slowly in the background to update itself when the computer is idle or at low usage. It may not have had time to finish updating the index list yet to include the D:\Music files. You can rebuild the index to force it to update faster. In the Advanced search window, you could also check the Include non-indexed locations box for a more accurate search result to. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Files Missing From Index Hi Brink, The index options windows shows as indexing complete. If I select the include non-index locations it will bring the files up that I am looking for. What I can't understand is why they don't appear to be getting indexed? I've also tried searching for *.mp3 - this brings up some results from the C drive but nothing from the D:\Music. Is anyone else successfully indexing files on drives other than the one that the OS is installed on? Thanks George |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Files Missing From Index I think I've found the solution - the folders only had permissions for me - as soon as I gave "system" full access they appeared in the index. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Files Missing From Index George, Right click on the D: drive in Computer and click on Properties. Under the General tab, double check to make sure that the "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed......" box is checked. If it is, then you might see if rebuilding the index may help. |
