| vista 64 | Change Vista Login to Win 2000 style I would like to get vista to use the login style used in Win 2000 ... ctrl+alt+del gives a login box in which to enter the user name and password. Win XP Pro had this option also, but, it's default was like vista (pictures showing all users). I have been able to get the ctrl+alt+del part but instead of the login box I still get pictures. Any help appreciated. Thanks David |

Gimme one sec... *searches* AHA Secure CTRL+ALT+DELETE Logon There you go. That should do it. I might use it in fact...... Thanks for making me think of it. ~Lordbob |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Change Vista Login to Win 2000 style Hello David, and welcome to Vista Forums. This will show you how to set Vista so users will have to log on with a user name and password. Doing it by pressing ctrl+alt+del in Vista is no longer available in Vista though. Instead, you can use the link below to enable user name and password log on, then use Switch User instead. Logon with Username and Password Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Windows 7 x64 build 7100 & Ubuntu 9.04 | Re: Change Vista Login to Win 2000 style Hey Brink, I saw the Tutorial, and it seemed like it would work. I tried it myself, but the check box was gray (disabled) Does that mean it really wont work? Why would they have put it in there if you cant use it?? ~Lordbob P.S. Lol I just realized, my name is David too I thought Brink was saying Hi to me first...... >.< |

| vista 64 | Re: Change Vista Login to Win 2000 style Shawn & Lordbob- Thanks for the timely response. Really appreciate it. I stumbled on to this link Configure the login and Welcome Screen in Vista | User Security | Smallvoid.com It does the same thing, but it goes through control panel. It does not look like Win 2000 or XP, but it does what I need. Also, it does not show the last user. Win 2000 and/or XP may have had that feature too, but I never knew I wanted it! ![]() Again, thank you all for your help & time. David |

| Windows 7 x64 build 7100 & Ubuntu 9.04 | Re: Change Vista Login to Win 2000 style Well, considering I am the only person who uses my computer, and I am a member of the Admisitrator group on my PC, yes. Unless i missed something setting up my PC, I should be the admin. Also, I think I can do it from the registry, cuz it worked on my parents computer. And another question for you Brink, how do you set link to display whatever text you want (this) but still have the link? It wont do that for me. ~Lordbob P.S. Its not a big deal if it doesnt work. |

I believe that the registry way is indeed on the tutorial (which is how i knew where to go to do it) so you shouldnt need to edit it. Thanks for the help. ~Lordbob |
