Readyboost on or off

Hi
Is ready boost doing anything when I don't use it with a flash device, or can i just turn it off in the service manager.
If yes, what does it do?
And if there was a flash drive would it then still have other purposes.
Thanks

Hi knector,
Here's a little information on it and yes, you can disable it.

Re: Readyboost on or off

Thanks
So it does nothing without a usb, then I should just disable the service.

Re: Readyboost on or off

In services it says nothing about dependencies but if I read "Inside the Windows Vista Kernel: Part 2" correctly Readyboost is used by Readyboot - seems like that wont be working if you disable? How big a loss is another question.

If not true trace files in Prefetch/Readyboot folder should be renewed as you boot away.
