A few questions?

Hello all and good day.

I have a few questions about my OS and want to know if anyone can help me.

1- Why am I able to "Safely Remove Hardware" all my SATA (HDx4 and DVDx2) drives along with my USB devices? I don't want them in there...ever.

2- I was looking at creating a backup of my system with the Vista x64 Ultimate "Backup Your Computer" option and I can't see my 1TB ( D: ) HD but I can see my other 750GB ( E: ) HD (Full). But when I go to "Back up Files" option I can see all my drives.

3- Is there a good FREE back up software for Vista x64 Ultimate?

I ask this because I just had to do a full reinstall because I had a ndis.sys boot problem that prevented me from being able to boot Vista in any form even after a restore and repair.
Thanks for your time.

1 - Not sure why. I don't think my drives show up there. They might if I have a USB device plugged in. Basically showing all drives on the system. I don't think you can disconnect them using the tool if you tried. If you can, then my guess is your install of vista is hosed and you need to reinstall it. That would be easier than trying to find an answer to that question I think.

2 - I don't use Windows Backup. Not robust enough for me.

3 - One of the best backup utilities (in my opinion) is Acronis TrueImage.

Thanks. I will give those a try?
Still can't finger out why I can safely remove all my SATA drives.
I'll keep looking I guess.
