Weird label after Drive letter won't go away...

Hello all,

I have been searching for an answer to a niggle I have with a strange labeling problem in Vista. I had a Teac CA200/B/S (all in one card reader) in my computer at one time and it allowed my to label the 3 drive slots it in which it inhabited. This thing used two internal usb connections. It allowed me to label the drives: Mem Stick, SD-Media, etc. Unfortunately, the reader was more trouble than it was worth so I returned it. Unfortunately, I also saved my only backup of my system in Acronis after I had installed the unit. So, the Teac is long gone. But, when I use a removable USB CD/DVD drive the labels reappear. I have tried many things to remove the labels, they currently appear like this (DVD RW Drive (J colon) Mem Stick, or DVD RW Drive (I colon) SD-Media, etc.). Is there any way to remove the Mem Stick or SD-Media "after labels" from my system? This is a niggle yes, but it seems strange that the Teac was allowed to fudge up the control of this system to this degree.

Now, I hope there is a "duh" solution to this crazy problem, but believe me I have tried many things to rid those pesky labels from Vista and they're buggy.

I think I've got a solution. I'll just rebuild the system from scratch. Who knows how many other remnants are lurking in there anyway. Also, being that the Teac CA200 was pretty old, it probably never addressed Vista properly anyway. Oh well...

That solution will work, though a simple reinstall, repair, or restore may fix the issues better.
