| Vista Business 32bit | Processor/motherboard issues. Hey. Just recently bought and installed a new processor AMD Athlon X2 64 6000+ AM2 and flashed bios because my motherboard had difficulties to recognize the processor. After this im getting bluescreen with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL constantly after comp has been running for a while. So go to the store and buy a new motherboard or? I have also tried to flash several versions of bios but that only made things worse.AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ AM2 ABIT KN9 ULTRA Corsair DDR2 800mhz ATI RADEON 4850 Vista Business 32bit |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. Dumb question but did you set your BIOS to Default and clear CMOS after switching the CPU? I asked this because I went from an E6300 to an E7200 and didn't noticed anything wrong until a couple of weeks later and someone suggested I do that. |

| Windows 7 x64 build 7100 & Ubuntu 9.04 | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. Ok, this looks like it could be a temp problem, or some bad hardware. Try this: Run the computer till the error pops up, then reboot into BIOS and check the CPU temps. If it is overheating, that is a major problem, and will need fixing. If the CPU is not hot then, it could be RAM. Take out the sticks that are in it now, and put in some sticks you have used and are good. That should fix it. If not, then there are deeper problems. ~Lordbob |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. You should load "optimized defaults" and then adjust memory setting so it fits ram. Timings and voltages. Cant be sure Auto/SPD/Default is correct. Go through all windows in bios and edit. Optimized defaults is only a fixed preset. Cpu should be compatible. If you screwed up and it is running very hot even if idle you wont be the first ![]() Run Memtest86+ or Windows memory diagnostics Memory Diagnostics Tool Could also be power supply because new cpu require much more power than the old. 6000 is one of the most powerhungry cpus. You also have semi-taxing video card. If only adequate before psu will be underpowered now - hard to say but could be. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. I have set bios to default several times and also cleared CMOS. Bios settings have been default with the old processor as well and it was running fine. The CPU is running about 40-50celsius while doing some random stuff like browsing or using skype. I could try the memory although they have been working just fine with the old processor. And I ran the vistas own memory-test and no problems there. PS: Sorry for the chapter and grammar issues I’m writing this as fast as I can because I think its Blues-screen time again soon . Don’t know why but I have this fuzzy feeling that if I go and buy a new motherboard and hook it up I will have a rock solid system again. Last edited by geez12; 01-21-2009 at 03:44 AM.. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. Whoops forgot to tell you guys one more thing that i found odd. I downgraded bios one notch and my comp would not boot up it always crahsed to the windows loading screen. It recognized my processor but i had to take the multiplier of the processor down from 15.5 to something lower, although 15.5 should be correct because 15.5x200=3100mhz. For dk70, my old processor was AMD Athlon 4200+ X2 64 AM2 and my power source is Antec 430W True power. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. No, correct multiplier is 15 - use that with latest bios. I have a 6000, no chance of running 3100mhz without BSOD. Bios could be misreading CPU-ID - or just be buggy. Doublecheck settings. Ram speed increases when you overclock cpu - unless forced not to. You say memory passes test but using a lower speed might be worth a try. So manually force 667 speed. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. That processor thing i understand but by what do you mean by that 667? Timings or what? Sorry for being such a n00b :P |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Processor/motherboard issues. Speed. Look here http://www.phoronix.net/image.php?id=530ℑ=abit_kn9u_bios5_lrg Set it to manual and then chose speed or Dram Clock. Also where you set timings if they are not properly detected by bios. Since memtest pass it should be ok, at least not cause such problems, so dont touch other settings. What power supply you have? Ah I see about the psu. Well is it a newer version (2.0) or the old because I doubt very much older version can pull this off. Could get critical. If newer model you should be ok. |
