Solved Unsupported JPEG file in Windows Photo Gallery - please help!

I've just come back from holidays and uploaded photos from my camera onto my pc. I usually just copy the files from the camera to my pc but I accidentally hit "cut and paste" instead of "copy". Soon after my pc froze and had to be restarted. I opened up the pictures folder on my pc and 63 out of 113 (the first 40 or so can be viewed and so can a few at the end - which confuses me even more) can't be opened!
I've tried opening them in Windows Photo Gallery only to get the message that the file cannot be supported or I don't have the latest update etc, however it still recognises that the files are JPEGs!?? It also recognises when the photos were taken etc, I just can't view the photo! I've tried opening it with several other programs to no avail.
It's always frustrating losing photos, and even more so when they're of a great holiday! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

If the computer locked up during the transfer then the file is not complete and will not open (had this happen many times in my digital photo class). Have you tried any photo editing programs? Sometimes they can open photos that other programs wont, but if the file is corrupt it probably wont work.

Just a thought

Thanks Jeremy, I actually thought about that but I think it's highly unlikely as it froze up about 5 minutes later and the copying window had well and truly stopped by then. Also I pasted them in their order and I have say, the first 30 files, then 3 ones that won't open, then another 10, then I'm missing 60 or so, then 3 of the very last ones.
I tried opening them in a few different programs (Paint, Quicktime, Picasa etc - waiting to install Paint Shop Pro now) but all have the same problem. I've even tried uploading them to Facebook and Picnik but still get an error.
Thanks anyway!

Have you tried any software to recover the deleted files from the memory card in your camera? This may be the best option as it will recover the origianal file.

Glad to see you got it sorted out. Recuva is also free.
