Need help with minimize problems.

Ok so i'm pretty new to vista and i need help. i've noticed when i minimize or maxmize my windows it just disappears but my friends have that Mac effect, or genie effect if you will, when they minimize. So can someone tell me how to enable the option w/o how to download anithing?
