computer all of a sudden slow

I have a toshiba satellite laptop and it has been working great until a couple of days ago when it started slowing up a lot and it takes so long for things to load. i have run virus and spyware scans and nothing turns up. any ideas on what is going on?

IM having the same issue and I cant find out what it is!
I have a compaq presario f700
Its really slow and it freezes a lot. i play games on it but mainly 2 games.
Also vista says that theres no audio drivers installed and I Just dont know whats wrong. I cant really afford another computer right now

That is not a lot of ram, but if it was working sweet then it shouldn't be the issue.
Do you run in classic mode with Aero turned off? That will speed things up a little.
I would also scan with Malewarebytes to be sure no nasties are on board.Malwarebytes
I would also do a system file check with sfc /scannow

Then defrag with cmd run as administrator
defrag.exe C: -W (note space before c and -w)
