Vista - CHKDSK won't

When I try to run CHKDSK on my Toshiba Laptop with Vista 64 it gets to 51% of checking free disk space 5 of 5 and stops. Has done this over and over.

Hello Chuck, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Does it give you any error messages at this point?

You might see running a sfc /scannow command can find and fix any system files that may be causing CHKDSK to not finish running. Afterwards, see if it can finish. If not, then you may need to do a System Restore using a restore point dated to when you knew it worked (if known and available).

Thanks Shawn, no error messages, it just stops and will sit there forever if I let it. It has never worked and this is a brand new computer with not much on it other than what came pre-installed. I will try your other suggestion. Chuck
