Corrupt or missing ecache.sys

I have a Sun Ultra 20 M2 that boots Vista Ultimate x64 from the first SATA drive and Solaris 10 from the 2nd Sata drive.

My machine will no longer boot into Vista as I get the following error.

corrupt or missing \windows\system32\drivers\ecache.sys

status: 0xc0000221

Info : Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt

I have tried to use the system repair several times each time the log file stating that it has fixed the problem.

I have also tried replacing the file from another machine (x64 version) and deleting the file all together to see if the repair option would rebuild the file.

I have also tried system restore to an Install restore point and an incremental restore point both well within dates of my last know reboot of the system.

I have NOT tried to install over the current installation because that will be quite painful!

I have not located any pertinent information on MS-Tech Net or in the KB.

Does anyone have any suggestions because I really need to get this system back up in tact!

I have read that ecache.sys is part of the ready-boost sub-systems. Is there a way to turn is off from the recovery shell? (I though it was disabled!)

Thanks for any assistance!
