Auto disable aero when playing games?

is there a way to make vista auto switch to basic theme when starting a d3d game and auto re-enable aero when exiting a game..sort of what 3dMark does when u start a benchmarrk... reason: some games stutter when i have aero on while playing games.. when i disable it..dx10 games like crysis playing a hell of alot smoother.. any help appreciated thanks..

somehow problem seems to have lessend a bit ..i've been able to leave aero on and play games..although i noticed a HUGE performance gain when trying the WIN 7 Beta 1.. alot better gfx performance hardly any stutters at all in ALL games! cant wait for 7 RETAIL!

Right click on the shortcut and go into the compatibility tab and check the box that says Disable desktop composition.

wow thanks alot..i didnt even think of that... though as i mentioned , for some reason everything seems better now..dont know how or why.. i must say windows 7 beta is WAY better as far as GFX performance for me.. i can confirm it by just the overall experience when playing and by the FarCry 2 Benchmark..in vista i always get 50 avg, 62 max, and 38 min, in windows 7 i get 55.5 avg, 62 max, 44 min!!, i gotta say honestly i have been vista from day 1, but i CANT WAIT for windows 7 now.. full retail!, its definetly gonna kick a$$
