Well, I have two accounts on my laptop and obviously one of them is an administrator, but the administrator is my dads account and mine is just a standard account. Now when I try to logon to my dads account, or change some of the settings on my account it won't let me do it. When I try and logon to my dads i says 'The User Profile Service service failed the logon'. So i did what I have been showed: type regit (i think it is) then go to windows NT, then current version, profile list + finally I have to delete the SID key which doesn't have .bak. So when I try and delete it it'll say there was an error deleting it. Can someone help me please? Because it is stopping me doing stufff on here
thank you if you do help

oh yeah by the way I tried to delete it on my account

Re: The User Profile Service service failed the logon

Hello Powpowwheels, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It will not let you do this from a standard account. Have you tried from Safe Mode (STEP ONE) in the tutorial to see if you can use the built-in Administrator account for this?

If you havem then you can use a restore point dated when you and your Dad think that the account was working fine. If incorrect, try a older restore point until hopefully you get one that will work.

Hope this helps for now,
Shawn
