Do you want to dual boot it or completely remove vista and load xp on it?

    Hello Tanmei,

In that case, check to make sure that you have XP drivers available for all of your devices and download them to have them handy to install later.

If it is a retail XP version, then you can just boot from the XP installation DVD and format your hard drive and finish installing XP on your computer.

Be sure to backup any file that you do not want to lose first though.

    Re: Reformatting Query

    Hi Shawn,

    Thanks for your reply.

In preparation for reformatting my PC I went to the MS website and downloaded all the XP SP2 drivers and at the Acer website I downloaded all the Aspire L3600-related XP drivers, including the bootable disc from the ISO. However, a few minutes into the reformatting process a message came up saying, "BootMGR missing," and stopped ...

I tried inserting the bootable disc I made from the ISO and the various drivers discs, too, but nothing happened!!

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Reformatting Query

    Tanmei,

Is this an upgrade version of XP? If so, then you will need to have a older Windows installed on there first to upgrade to. If you want to do an installation from a formatted hard disk, it will only install from a Full an OEM version XP disc.

If not, then you may have a bad DVD image.

    Hi folks,

    Thanks for the assistance -

I managed to overcome the issue by taking the pc into the local shop down the street where the tech finished deleting Vista.

I took the pc home and loaded XP Home without a problem and it's smoking

    Problems solved
