Vista 64 - lost my DVD

Hi - title says it all !
Both my CD and DVD player show in boot up but are no longer visible in "My Computer" :cry: nor in device manager?

If i put a dvd in Nothing happens - the power is on and the connection is ok.

any ideas please?

Try Drive accessing through "manage". Make sure it has a drive letter assigned. You can also try removing it, disconnecting cables and reinstalling it.

start>right click on 'computer'> click "manage">click "continue">click 'storage-Disk management' check the drive letter.

Thankyou - I had a try but neither cd nor DVD was listed so i tried the cables again - with no luck I then checked the device manager again and tried un-installing the IDE controllers and re-booting this worked a treat :) Thanks
