Computer turning off randomly, Tried everything

I was sitting there and my computer just shut off randomly. I got a message saying something like windows needs to be repaired or something so I clicked the button to repair it. I go downstairs and watch a movie, and then I come back up and I see a black screen with the mouse pointer doing the loading animation. So I leave it for about 2 more hours and still nothing happens, I turn it off manually. Now I have to create a new user account, but I cant because it shuts off after about 1 or 2 minutes of running. I finally got that done and when I click on my user account to start up it shuts off after about 30 seconds on the desktop. The only way it will run is if it is in safe mode. I am even on it now writing this message. It runs great in safe mode... what do I do? I don't have a Vista disk anymore...

Obtain a Disk/Re-install Vista. You have a corrupted (possibly by malware) Windows Installation
After you reinstall, check your Reliability Monitor (perfmon in the start search) and generate a system health report under "advanced tools" to check for hardware issues.

Also, before reinstalling vista, perform a clean boot and see if its working|
Or else as suggested by rive0108, reinstall Vista.

Ok.. I was hoping I could fix without having to delete all of my stuff. I am just glad nobody said it was a hardware issue. I really cant deal with that now. And I didn't get the user profile message... It just cuts off randomly. What can I use to prevent the malware invasions? norton sucks..I read somewhere that you could prevent viruses and spyware 100% buy unpluggig your ethernet cable and never plugging it up again...;D but even could just be a myth...

Dont jump the gun--- It could very well be a hardware issue. If your system runs in safe mode. But first try re-installation and the Health report/reliability Monitor I suggested above. If you still have the same problem then you can be sure its hardware related.

Ps- you can fix this if it is software corruption without losing your data.

Have your tried running anti-virus while in safe mode? Possibly the problem is dormant at this time and anti-virus may deal with it then.

Have you try system restore to the restore point before the incident in safe mode?

If the repair that messes up the pc is some registry cleaner, you may be able to repair it with the OS disk. You just simply has screw up registry which sometime repairable.

If it is a virus, you can download, follow instruction and run Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk 8.8.1.18 - A safe way to remove viruses from a computer without the risk of getting infected - Softpedia You may have to change boot sequence to optical drive first. Or do the "press any key to boot from CD" thing. If you can wash it out then window update the system then you may be ok.

Of course, format HDD and install Vista with take care of all the virus or corrupted elements.

If checking for hardware, first make sure not dust balls clog up any heat sinks. If it is a desktop, make sure connections and components are seat and secure. Replace SATA cable if you have a chance. There are many thing your can look at, but we will start from there after if reinstallation failed.

Hope this helps,

Bruce
