Hello deaner17,

I just finished my 9 page research paper last night (phew!) so good job there.

You should just be able to start word back up, and if it shut down unexpectedly, there should be an option to restore previous work. That should save you there.

P.S. When you name your Thread, name it something that means something to someone. See this post here.

I know older version of Office included the "Microsoft Office Application Recovery Tool" that helped recover data from hung Office applications. I can't find this tool in Office 2007, but try this:
  1. Click the Start Orb
  2. Click "All Programs"
  3. Click the "Microsoft Office" folder
  4. Click the "Microsoft Office Tools" folder
  5. Click "Microsoft Office Diagnostics"
Hopefully, that tool includes the ability to recover from a crashing Word. I can't be sure, because I haven't needed to use it before...

Hello deaner17,

I just finished my 9 page research paper last night ......

EDIT:
P.S. When you name your Thread, name it something that means something to someone. See this post here.

........I agree with lordbob75. The whole point of a thread title is to draw attention to your particular problem, and to solicit replies from Members who may be aware of the problem, or experts in the field that you are experiencing difficulties with.

Your title is so general, it could have mean't that your cat swallowed a fish-bone, and you wanted help with that!! If you think about it, everyone who posts a thread with a stated problem, needs help asap!

You'd have been better served, if you'd headed your post with something like;

MS Office Word not responding to 'save'- How to recover 3 of 6 pages missing??

In the final analysis, you must bear the responsibility for the error, not MS Office Word. After all, no matter how much you 'are on a roll', it takes a fraction of a second to hit the "Ctrl+S" or to click on the 'Save' icon.

It also helps to find solutions to a problem, if along with details of what you did do, you also include information about what you didn't do. For example, ' As I was typing frantically, I forgot to 'save' my work every now and then'. This saves a 'helper' from putting the question in an attempt to troubleshoot your problem.

That's it. I hope that you get it sorted.
