unable to delete folders :s

Hi there,

I have been trying to remove all system restore folders on my pc but even after disabling system restore i have found on some of my hard drives that i have alot of RP* folders left...
On one of my drives i have nearly 2 GB of stuff under the system Volume information folder and i cannot get rid of it.

Everytime i try to open the folder (F:\System volume information\) i am getting 'access denied'

I have treeview installed on my pc so i can browse to the folders within it and view the files but when i try to delete them it does nothing. :s

i have tried in safe mode also but with no luck.

I have already turned off UAC and have full admin rights

Does anyone have a solution for me?

Each of those are "read only" system protected files or folders seen there. You need to right click on each to take ownership on each and see the read only option unchecked followed by clicking the apply button to see that set. Once you have total ownership you can deleted each one as you go along.

A free tool that can also help is the TakeOwnership mod to see that option added into the right click menu. Add "Take Ownership" to Explorer Right-Click Menu in Vista :: the How-To Geek Note the reg mod available there will also work on XP as well as Vista for seeing that option added onto the right click menu.

I have applied the reg and successfully taken ownership, but when i deselect the read only and apply it looks like its working, but it does not let me delete the folder
then when i go back to the properties it has the read only selected as the full box, not tick box...

seem to be going round in circles now :s

Sometimes you have to fight a little to actually get the full control over various files and folders. The right click option helps a lot while you have to go through a few other steps at times to see that work.

Once you have the security tab open click on the advanced tab and then double click on your admin/user name to see a third screen come up. From there click ok on that and the second advanced to then select your user name>edit from the security tab on the properties to recheck the full control box.

The other thing to do is uncheck those other drives in the System Properties>System Protection tab there. You will likely need to restart the system to see the changes put into effect so plan on doing that as well.
