This are my specs...

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80ghz
Mbord MSI G31M3
2 gb of RAM Kingston ddr2
VGA Inno3d 9600GT 512mb ddr3
Onboard Sound card
CDVDRW-Samsung Speed Plus
and a 80 gb IDE Seagate hard disk...

So here is my problem when i install Windows Vista and it is on Expanding Files it takes a really long time, its suddenly stops and its takes a really long time to increase the percentage of Expanding the files...

When it's finish Expanding the files it takes about 1 hr to install and when the installation is complete the start up takes about 30 minutes to finish and open the desktop and when im in the desktop, it takes about 10 minutes to just click on something and usually it freezes or locks up and it will just continue reading.....

I have already tested the "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" and it said that my computer can run any Vista Version....

I wish you can help me with my problem i've been so stress just waiting for the installation of this Windows....

Thank You.....

Hi ki321 and welcome to Vista Forums

A few things to try:
  • Reset your BIOS to its defaults.
  • If your optical drive and HDD are on the same cable, move them to separate cables. The speed of any device on an IDE cable is always the speed of the slowest device on that cable. On the motherboard, use the primary port for the HDD and the secondary port for the optical drive.
  • If you are using 40-conductor IDE cables, change them for 80-conductor versions.
  • Make sure that you have installed the memory to take advantage of dual-channel mode.

Dual channel mode is installing the RAM in the right slots, if you have 4 RAM slots then your slot numbers will be like this, ascending from the CPU > 1,2,3,4. install the RAM in alternative slots for the dual channel memory to take advantage of the dual channel mode. So when your looking top down on the memory slots, so you would put your RAM into slots 1 and 3 for dual channel mode.

If I had to guess, it could be a drive issue of sorts. Your DVD drive is SATA it appears. If vista is using generic drivers to drive your chipset, it could trash the transfer rate and such. I would suggest trying to flip the compatability for your IDE channels to ATA rather than AHCI if such an option presents itself in bios. If it does not or it is already enabled, I suggest you turn it back onto AHCI and try installing Vista after either slipstreaming drivers for it or puting the driver on a flash disk and telling the installer where to find it (in the partitioning stage).
