Dual Boot problems.

My machine used to have Vista and XP in a dual boot setup.
I was having graphics card issues in Vista, so i removed the vista installation partition and now i just run xp.

With vista having previously been installed the boot order is managed not by the boot.ini file but by bcdedit

When i boot , the vista install that is not there is the default OS.
I have no access to vista.

how can i change this or restore the power to boot.ini from windows xp

thanks a lot

Try this:
Start>in search type, msconfig>click "continue">boot tab>delete vista O/S

or if that doesnt work:

Microsoft has released a very simple procedure to follow.
1. Boot your system in to Windows XP.
2. Ensure you have the Vista DVD in the drive.
3. Go to Start>>Run. Type e:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
4. You will notice the boot selection menu of vista now gone.
5. Format the partition/drive where you had Vista .
6. Remove two files Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK on your XP drives root folder (C: ).
7. Restart to make sure that it works.
8. Merge the partitions together if you want.
