Help With Re-Setting Computer To Factory Settings

Hey guys, I'm new here and I could use a little help. Over the past year and a half, I've been dabbling in spamware and other unoffical programs that have slowly clogged my PC. It's really starting to show it now, because it has become a shadow of it's former self. I'd really like to restore it to it's factory default settings and programs, even at the cost of my music files. How would I go about re-setting it?

Hello Hazardan, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if doing the items in this tutorial can speed your computer back up for you.

Speed Up the Performance of Vista

Otherwise, you can do a clean install of Vista to completely reset it back to a blank clean slate.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Help With Re-Setting Computer To Factory Settings

Hi Hazardan, there should be a menu appear for a second or two every time you start up your pc. Choose the restore option and it will get it done on its own.

On the other hand, some computer comes with a reisntallation disk may not has that menu and options. You will have to put the disk in the optical drive and boot from it. Soon as you turn one the pc it will prompt you to press any keys to boot from CD. Do that and it will walk you thought the installation.

If there is no options or wouldn't boot from disk. You will have to go to set your boot priority to optical drive. Go to advence seting or something (be back on this if needed) under control penal. Then restart with CD in the drive and will be on it way reinstall.

Hope it works for you smoothly.
