How long do files stay in Vista Recycle Bin

I'm using Vista Home Premium, 64bit, with SP1 update.

Problem:
I have "recycled" several files thinking that they would stay in the recycle bin until I emptied it.... like in XP.

However, the Vista Recycle Bin seems to empty itself. When I go back a few days later, the bin is empty, though I did not empty it.

Hence my question: How long do files stay in Vista Recycle Bin?

Is there a setting to keep it from auto-clearing the Recycle Bin?

Never known anything about a timer on the recycle bin, however. If you right click the bin, it automatically deletes files that are too large - you CAN customize this, although it should give you a notice.

Never had this problem though - I just delete and empty asap : D

When you right click the bin and choose properties there are two radio buttons.
One is for the size of the bin, the other is to delete files immediately and not put them in the bin.
Which one do you have on?

Have never known anything delete itself from the bin unless told to do so.
