Yet another Vista hangs during installation

Here is my story...

I initially was going to do a clean install Vista 64 bit (I am/was running XP 32 bit). I booted from the dvd, entered the 25 digit code, got to the screen where I was asked what drive to install Vista on. I decided to cancel the installation, boot back into XP and backup some files that I had previously neglected to back up.

When I went back to reinstall Vista, I again booted from the dvd, I got the white files loading message and bar, then the screen switched to the sweeping green bar with the Microsoft Corporation written below it, and it just hangs there. I let it sit at that spot for over 4 hours. The first time I tried to install Vista it went to through this part very quickly. I looked at other posts of similar hanging problems and have tried those solutions. I even unplugged everything (drives and pci cards) so that the only thing remaining in my system was a video card on the PCIE bus and it still hangs.

System consists of.

MSI K9N SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 5200 dual core
4GB(down to 2GB) Memory
ATI Radeon video card
Installing to a 120GB Sata HD with 2 NTFS Partions

What is throwing me for a loop is that I was able to start the installation initially and now I can't. Any suggestions?
