1) It matters what device you are using to connect your SD card to your computer.

2) If the SD card you bought was an SDHC [SD High Capacity] card it could have compatibility issues with the device you are using to connect the card with your computer.

Please give more information and I'll try to help.

Hi grammakim4 and welcome to Vista Forums

Is the card being recognised by the computer? If not, it could be that the card reader cannot recognise it, particularly if the card is SDHC as opposed to SD. You can buy external SD card readers that can utilise this type of card - indeed some SDHC cards are supplied with such a USB reader. If it is an internal reader, and is supposed to be able to read these cards, then check for any loose connections.
Another point - SD cards have a lock switch to prevent overwriting of data already on the card - check this.

Wow I feel real stupid.... ok I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3020n PC and at the top there are several different ports to use and only one works. I bought a Lexar 2 gb SD card and when I put it in the slot the little green light comes on but I can not find it any where on the computer. I have never used this feature before on my computer. I used to have a lexmark printer that I used but I no longer have it.
I went to device manager and found the slots listed under portable devices. So I know it is on the computer just cant find it anywhere. Any help will be wonderful.
I need the pics off the computer to put on the frame for a show. Thank you Kim

Look in Disk Management for it.
If it's empty you may need to format it first before Windows will show it in Explorer.
It should show up as another disk or mass storage device.
