So, I'm optimizing my system and now everything seems really slow o.O

So, I've been reading these tutorials and the services list by BlackViper to optimize my system, but now it seems slow. Programs take much longer to open up now then before I started and I haven't disabled SuperFetch or nothing that should of effected them. I just finished tweaking my boot up time and it's still 91 seconds. Why is that? I've set it to use both cores, but it sits at a black screen before the Vista logo appears and then it still takes a couple seconds to a fully working desktop.

All that are on my desktop are the Computer, User Folder, and Recycle Bin. I've disabled all my startup programs except for aVast, my GFX Drivers, and the 2-3 Microsoft things that I need in order to sucessfully startup.

Anyone think they could help me out here? It seems my system should be fast since my computer is good. So, what's wrong?

EDIT: Is it even possible to get a working, gaming/internet ready startup in ~20seconds? That would be awesome. Also, that boottime script, does that count the motherboard splash image, etc to? Because my motherboard logo pops up, then my dvd drive's info pops up and then Vista. Anyone know how to remove those?

It seems that you have disabled something that you should not have. You can either do a System Restore using a restore point dated before you made these changes, or enabled the startup programs and services that you disabled one by one to see if that was the one that you may need.

I do not know if you used this tutorial, but it contains some common items to tweak to improve your computer's performance as well.

Yes, I used that tutorial. I'm guessing it's something to do with the bootup process, well the black screen it sits at for a bit at least. The programs open fine after the first run, so I think it's fixed now. Except for the black screen before the logo.

You might double check to see if step 5 (METHOD ONE) in the tutorial below is unchecked if you are not dual booting. It accounts for the default 30 second wait.

Yea, that is unchecked. I mean it sits at a black screen after the OS Choice (if present) and right before the Vista Logo appears to go to the desktop.

It would be normal for it to have a few seconds of wait for whatever is loading (ex: startup files) or the BIOS is checking before loading though.

This isn't a few seconds, it's 91 seconds. That seems pretty long to me. There is a mouse pointer where it sits, so is there any way to speed up the boot files loading? It seems it'd be faster since I've got so much RAM and processing power.

If it's 91 seconds total restart time, then that may not be out of the ordinary.

You can check you BIOS settings to make sure that anything extra that you are not using (ex: unused secondary onboard SATA/IDE device for second soutbridge chip) is set as disabled. Be sure not to disabled anything you are using though.

Not sure of what else to check for other than what was already in the tutorial though.

Yea, I used that script to get the time from restart to fully booted up. I'll check the BIOS and just leave it if nothing there can be disabled.
