| Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Replacing imageres.dll Hello. A little while ago i downloaded a program called windowsblinds to change the look of my computer. After installing it and changing the theme some of my icons went missing. after doing some looking into it i think the problem lies in icons missing from the imageres.dll directory. so i got a copy of my friends who uses the same version of windows, but i cant move and replace because the old on is in use. So i tried renaming is and i can move it fine, but when i go to put the new one in i need to be admin and when i move or rename the old one i lose my admin controls... this is getting awful fustrating and i think im just going to reformat if i dont get it fixed within a couple days... Can someone please help. I just dont want to go through teh hassle of reformating. |

| Windows 7 x64 build 7100 & Ubuntu 9.04 | Re: Replacing imageres.dll Hello Newf2112. Grab a Vista disk, and pop it in the drive. Load it up, and select repair. That should replace and fix the DLL file. Make sure you take the changes out from Blinds, or remove it altogether. ~Lordbob |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Re: Replacing imageres.dll Ok, what if i dont have a Vista disk? I never recieved one with my HP laptop but i do have recovery disks i made when i got it. Would a repair feature be on that, because i thought that it was just to basicly reformat it. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Replacing imageres.dll Hello Neef2112, You might be able to do a System Restore using Method Two at that link with a restore point dated before this problem to see if it can fix this. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Re: Replacing imageres.dll Hey, Ive tried already but i dont have a restore point before the damage was done. If anyone could write me out the dos command to move and replace imageres.dll from C:\Users\Mat\Documents\My Received Files to C:\Windows\System32 so i can end explorer.exe, so imageres should not be in use. Could that work? |

| Vista Home Preimum x64 | ok let me try and explain what i have manage to do i desided i wanted to customize my start up images for my vista 64bit home premium laptop. so i looked on the internet and saw i could download imageres.dll files and replace ones in the system32 folder, easy enough it seemed. so i download one, open the system32 folder, copy the origional to a different folder, and insted of deleting it from system32 i just rename it: imageresold.dll then i think right thats done, and try to copy the new one into the folder. it goes thro the motions and says copying, but then doesnt apear in the folder!! now im very worried if i restard my computer it wont start back up again!!!!!! i cant rename the origional file, which is now called imageresold.dll or copy the origional file back into the folder as with the new file. it says when i try, you need to conferm this operation, so i press continue, and then the screen flashes and reverts back to the orrigional file name of imageresold.dll. PLEASE HELP, I DONT WANT MY COMPUTER TO DIE! i have a similar problem and cant alter the imigeres file, for some reason i cant open my system restor program either! it says faital system error? any ideas?
