Vista Installation Help?

Hey guys. I'm new and dunno if I put this in the right forum. I was planning on installing Vista soon. My friend is going to mail me his Vista disk, but it's x64. I have x86. I was wondering if it's possible to select if you want to install the 32bit or 64bit version in Vista's installer?

If It's a 64-bit disk then the OS install will be 64-bit, even though you're installing it over a 32-bit OS (Operating System)

Yep x64 is on one disc and x86 on another. You can't select which version to install.

Oh. Will I still be able to install it without issues or will I get tons of errors / will my PC explode? xD

lol, it won't explode. unless you click the detonate icon

Yes you should still be able to run it without problems. Although with only 1GB, you definitely won't see any advantage over x86.

Plus I would "highly" suggest you do your research before upgrading to x64 with regards to hardware, software/driver compatibility. I would check for the availability of 64-bit drivers for your device(s), or make sure that critical software works under Vista 64. That's the number one complaint around here...
