Some vista questions

Hi Everyone, Having fun with my new laptop. Still like wndow xp the best thou.

I have tried a few times to download Java from Sun Micro-systems but each time it says it failed.
Anywhere else i can get it?

Also at the right hand side of my vista by the clock there is a place you can enlarge your web page.
I have to put it on 150 each new web site i go to.
Is there anyway it can be put on 150 always?
I know about the ease of access center and set that one right.
Thank you jinky

i know you can set a custom zoom but i think it is a default setting and is user changed per page only though their may be a mods or such that can change it or give you the option to change it.

maybe someone else knows if it can be done

Java SE Downloads - Sun Developer Network (SDN)

If it is just for the browser, take the JRE 6 Update 12 Select Windows (not Windowsx64 unless you want it for Minefield) as the platform and agree to the license

This is for the 32bit browsers on a 64bit system

I did all what you said and it gave me this:

Internet Explorer Users: Check the top of this page for a "Java(TM) Web Start ActiveX Control" message in the information bar. If it appears, click it to finish detecting your Java version.

Pooch i can't find it.

We were unable to detect a recent version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on your system. With the latest JRE, you can automatically download, install, and run Sun Download Manager (SDM) directly from this page. We highly recommend SDM to easily manage your downloads (pause, resume, restart, verify, and more). Visit java.com for the latest JRE.

Hey jinky,

Java is normally already installed for I.E.

I thought you meant for Firefox

If you still want to Install Sun Java for I.E. and Firefox

Try this
  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. Select Classic View
  2. Double-click Java icon to open Java Control Panel.
  3. In Java Control Panel, click Advanced tab.
  4. Under the Advanced tab you will see a + icon next to Default Java for browsers.
  5. Click the + icon, and check or uncheck the checkbox next to the Web browser you want enable or disable from using Sun JVM.
  6. Click Apply to save your settings.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer.

Why does everyone like Firefox ? thanks jinky

Probably because it is very good and quick, I have been using it so long now that I cant remember why I switched.

Do you have a Java Folder in C:\ Program Files (x86) for 32bit
or C:\Program Files for 64bit

If you have Firefox it can only be 32bit as the 64bit version has another name. it is not really worth it for you to install a 64bit Browser, as Flash player which is normally needed, does not work yet as 64bit

It will not hurt if you install both versions of Java
