| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Reliability Monitor Issues Since I got my computer I have tried to keep it running as well or better than original, which was something I used the reliability monitor for. That being said, I cannot anymore. Whenever I open it up, I get an Internet Explorer error and below is a screenshot of the error. I also have a similar error with certain help programs. I've googled for months to no avail short of forums that say "Windows Vista seems to be acting up, which means it's acting as it should." |

| Win7x64 | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues Sounds like something or someone may have been over-zealous in an attempt to "clean" parts of the OS, or perhaps the registry. Try this from an elevated CMD prompt (run as admin): Regsvr32 vbscript.dll Regsvr32 jscript.dll It'll reregister some of the script handlers that would be used by that Reliability Monitor page. Does it make any difference to the outcome? |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues Quote: Sounds like something or someone may have been over-zealous in an attempt to "clean" parts of the OS, or perhaps the registry. I was starting to think this myself too. The problem is that I deleted all of the registry backups from CCleaner because there were no immediate issues. I also have no restore points from before that time as I deleted them for the sake of space. As for the commands, they returned a message that they were successful but the reliability monitor still does not work. Are there more commands for this issue, is it something else, or am I stuck with this? Not really a HUGE deal as I don't use it much anymore but I don't know what other errors this will cause. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues Sorry Marty, a System Restore using a restore point would have been one way to restore the registry, but since you deleted them this would not be a option for you. ![]() Other than a clean reinstall of Vista, you can try a Repair install. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues Thanks, at least I know the problem, maybe, when I upgrade to sp2 it will fix this with the update but, for now I will just have to deal with it. I don't use it that often anyway. Also, I was having similar issues with some help programs but the regsvr commands seemed to have at least fixed that. Is there a way to just regsvr all of the .dlls involved with the reliability monitor? If nothing fixes it, that fine too. I haven't found any other un-explainable problems... |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues I just realized something, it's telling me that it can't find a file. Could that mean that the file where the log is stored was deleted or some kind of dll? If so, could Norton 360 have done that if there were virus that it found (it has found 13 viruses lately and deleted them, one of which could have messed this up)? |

| Win7x64 | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues It may not be an actual missing file. Seriously, try a simple "repair" install like Brink suggested. You won't lose anything (back up your data first though, as always) and it might fix the problem. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Reliability Monitor Issues I wanted to try that but, being as the computer was OEM installed with Vista I do not have an installation cd. Also, the recovery partition is OEM with no service pack so I can't use that and the instructions for such a situation (through following the links) are only for Dell. Anyway, nothing else is having problems and I have a feeling that service pack 2 will replace enough system files to fix this. Also, even though I deleted my original vista backup (the one made when sp1 was installed) would there be a way to reinstall sp1 (through an exe download)? |
