Is it possible without screwing windows Vista 64 up, to move a folder from one spot to another.
Explenation: I added a second HD to my laptop(it holds 2). Iwant to move all my Games to that drive, I moved one and edit the shortcuts in Star menu. Now I was wondering is this going to screw up the registry or anything? I just Dragged the folder from Programs Folder to new Game folder on other HD.
Any help would be great I do not want to have to reload it all. I mean i Have LotRo and Age of Conan bothe with at least an Hour of patchs I'd have to do again!
Thanks

My knowledge in this area is limited, but all my experience with this premise says you can't. There may be some program migration tool out there that I don't know about, but as far as just picking the file folders up and moving them to another drive my answer is no.

I did do this with on program - Drakensang- and it has ran with no problems. Maybe vista recognizes you are moving it, Might have issues when I try to Uninstall it though, going to check Registry and see if changed paths.

In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder you want to move and go to Properties. If there is a 'Location' link, you can easily move the folder, following the directions given there. Many folders have the 'Location' link, (like Documents, Music, Pictures, etc.) but not all. It's pretty straight forward. Here's a ton of help from Google. move documents + vista - Google Search

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I thought he was referring to installed Program Files directories.

I was MadDog, So I think you are right, I did move one like I said, and fixed the shortcuts, but I checked Registry and at least one entry still had old address. so eve though I hate to have to reload AoC & LotRo looks like thats whats going to have to happen.
Can't believe no ones come up with a program to do this? especially since I am just moving them and not trying to put them on another OS or anything.
