Help! Vista Premium x64 suddenly not loading programs on startup and no programs run!

I don't know what has happened. After installing Daemon Tools, I restart my computer and none of my startup programs run. I try 3 system restore points where this wasn't occuring and it still happens. When I click any desktop icons other than things like My Computer, Control Panel, etc. they are not opening. What has happened and what can I do? The only programs I've installed recently are TeamViewer 4, a game called Archlord, SWiSH Max 2, and that Daemon Tools. What can I do?

Re: Help! Vista Premium x64 suddenly not loading programs on startup and no programs

I would try un-installing the programs one by one. If un-installing them does not work....go into safe mode and try removing them. If that does not work, I would use system restore to go back to when your computer was working. Good luck.

Re: Help! Vista Premium x64 suddenly not loading programs on startup and no programs

I have tried this and it did not work.

This happened after I thought I installed Daemon Toosl. It asked for a restart to complete installation. I was talking to people on AIM so I waited about 5 mins and I restarted by the start menu, not by the OK/cancel prompt, and the restart took longer than usual to close down all my programs.

Can anyone help me, please?

Re: Help! Vista Premium x64 suddenly not loading programs on startup and no programs

This is very strange. I am trying everything and what I have just managed to do is find out that I can get Internet Explorer to run if I choose to run the 64-bit version of IE from the Start Menu, but the 32-bit version will not run.

Did something happen and somehow my 32-bit applications are not able to be used? Is there another 64-bit application other than "essential" things like the Control Panel that I can test also work?

Please anyone, I desperately need help.

I am able to, but programs are still not running in safe mode nor are the proper startup items being loaded. All that will come up in my tray is the Safely Eject Hardware, Windows Security Center, and Realtek Sound Panel...

I've restarted probably 30 times now in every mode there is, heh. Thank you for the ckdsk suggestion though, I will remember this and do it sometime later. Right now I'm a little nervous to restart while I actually have internet access as IE is running in 64-bit mode, so I'm going to hang around to get a few good suggestions. Thank you for the possible solution.

I've been clicking around and I've noticed the NVIDIA System Monitor is also working, another application that I think is 64-bit... I'm only throwing out ideas, I'm sure you guys know more than me.

I also just noticed "aaw7boot.txt" in my C:\, a file that I've never seen until this began happening... the contents read as follows, seeming to log each of my reboots since I've had this problem:

Yes, I just found out that this was simply an Ad-Aware dump file.
