If you use more than one computer, It is a way to synchronize the data on all these computers
I do not know if you can uninstall it or not

I have just been looking through the net It seems like you are stuck with it, getting rid of the Icon is probably the nearest you will come to an uninstall.
Yes I love my desktop, but its not so handy to take it lan parties.
