| Vista Business 32 SP1 | Does Vista Require Indexing for Search to Work? I have always un-ticked Indexing in XP Pro (to speed up overall system performance) and search/find worked by actually searching the hard drive/folder. But in Vista when I turn off Indexing, search does not work at all. It doesn't list any search results at all, it doesn't even attempt to search through the drive/folder. Is that normal? |

Hello Hammerdown, Normally when you disable the Index in Vista, Vista will just default to searching with a non-index search. Check you search settings to see if they are similar to how it is set in the tutorial below to see if that is why you are not having any search results. Search Options This may be useful as well.
