admin account missing

So I am new to vista and i was messing around with the user accounts

For some reason when i go to switch user or log of I only have the option to log on as a regular user without admin rights.

its says AMD below the picture...

Now if i go into the user account settings i see my created admin account but i can not make any changes since I have no admin rights on the account i am logged in with.

When I try to switch users I cant because only the account with no rights appears.

I tried to boot in save mode to see if the admin account is hidden...it is not but it says ASP.NET with the name of the admin account ( no idea if that means any thing)

When I try to unhide a account if gives me error messages.

So I have an admin account but it is not visible when trying to log in..in order for me to install programs or allow downloads in need to be the admin.

Any suggestions?

You can only enable the built-in Administrator account from within an administrator account.

When you startup into Safe Mode, what account is it logged in as? If you do not have a adminsitrator account, it should boot into the built-in administrator account by default.

it logs in as the same non admin account as if I boot up regularly.

I have a admin account when I go to user accounts just not appearing when I try to log on.

If i go to control panel ->user accounts->manage other accounts I have a admin account and a guest account.

I just cant make any changes because I am loged in as the normal user and seem to have no way to log in as the admin.

Uzzi,

Other than a clean reinstall, you might see if doing a System Restore (Method Two) using a restore point dated before this problem may help.

Net user administrator /active:no If you decide need a password for the administrator's account that you are going to activate or if you are unable to activate it with a blank password:
Net user administrator P@$$w0rd
Net user administrator activate:yes
Hit enter. You will get a message: The command completed successfully.

Download the hiren boot cd, write that image into a cd, boot from the hiren boot cd With that u can reset ur administrator password.
