Faasoft's great "Video Converter" is probably one of the best commercial choices though. I've been using it for a few years now.
... lost all my data except my videos what are in .smv format.

I found this Freeware ... I have never used it myself ... you might want to Scan it with VirusTotal before using it ... to make sure is Clean.
