Vista 64 and card reader

Hello there. I have a Vista 64 OS on an HP m9100z computer. It has an internal card reader. The reader used to work fine. But now (have live update on) the Card reader does not work properly. The reader is detected but with the yellow warning sign. When I plug in a card it does not show up in the drives and the warning sign would still be displayed. Removing the drivers and rebooting did not change the issue. But if I remove the driver and plug in a card and redetect or reboot while the card is in the reader it works properly. Any idea what is happening. The reader is an HP 10 in 1 reader.

I changed the reader thinking it was defective. But I still have the exact same problem.

I used device manager deleted the cards and re added them, same thing. I downloaded drivers for card readers and still the same issue, installed service pack and hot fixes and still no change.

I had a similar problem after re-installing Vista Home basic 32 bit. My sd card reader had the same yellow exclamation mark. I did all the right things and none worked. I finally broke down (almost crying) and BOUGHT, yes you read it right, BOUGHT, some software to update my drivers and it worked wonderfully. Updated everything on my system. here is the url

I just tried DriverCure. It found a few newer drivers, but most of the ones it found were not compatible with my system.. Also, my Icons are still missing from my internal card reader. I have tried another brand of card reader, still not changes.
