After installing IE 8, several gadgets stopped working correctly. Did some research
and re-registered msxml3.dll, scrrun.dll,jscript.dll. Yet the problem persists.

Thats weird.I have IE8, and there are no issues with my sidebar at all> perhaps you have Windows corruption. have you been using reg cleaners by chance? Those .dll are registry components.

Have you checked to see if the gadgets are IE reliant? Some of these may be incompatable.

Try setting the "Print Spooler" service to Automatic, this solved my problems with IE8.HTH.

Yes mine does the same. Re-registering those files only partly cured it, so I'm back with IE7 until they get the bugs out of IE8.

Hi bob F.
From what I see the analog clocks don't work properly. Also, the entire sidebar process takes some 15% of my CPU even when the sidebar is closed! The problem is that I need IE 8 because it works very well with my 24" Dell monitor. I hope they get the message and come up with some solution.

I think there is no harm in trying this fix from this thread and the problems I had with IE8 was unrelated to the problems of the person suggested, even though I had no idea why or how this fix worked I tried and worked for me and I am very happy user of IE8 now.http://www.vistax64.com/vista-news/217263-internet-explorer-8-released-progress-unmistakable-4.html
