Vista - Will M$ upgrade us from vista to win7 this year?

Hi All,

Do you think if we buy a new machine; M$ will upgrade vista to windows 7 like they did B4 ?

I want a new tower but I want to be sure all bugs are out and maybe M$ will upgrade me.

M$ is not prone to giving things away so don't count on it unless they announce something shortly before the anticipated release of 7, which of course will be like a beta until SP1 is released for it.

Back in Jan 2009, I tried to install utorrent and download the free win7 but it states it will take 2yrs 33weeks to d/l ????????

The free upgrade program has been approved by Microsoft for the major PC manufacturers but it is up to the manufacturers to decide when and if they will apply the program, the dates it will apply and the qualifying details will I'm sure be announced by the manufacturers in the next few months.

One supplier, in Canada I believe, has already stated that they will upgrade any vista equipped PC purchased from now on with Windows 7 when it is officially released.

The Release Candidate of Windows 7 should be publicly available for download direct from Microsoft towards the end of May this year, so it may be best to hold off on any purchase, if you can, for a few months at least until things are settled

Down here, gas is roughly $2 a gallon, which is pretty reasonable.

Of course, electricity is going to sky rocket very soon when summer hits and we need to keep the houses below 120 Fahrenheit.

Windows seven upgrades have been announced by a Seattle based computer company. I can't remember the name though. It was posted somewhere on the forums.

Computer vendors are doing this to spur today's business, not M$.
