cmd.exe problem

I have been having a problem for a very long time now and am going nuts trying to figure it out. I get cmd.exe in my processes when I start up and this takes up more than half of my CPU usage. I always have to end process and system is back to normal and runs smooth.

OK thats fine but after my computer is on for awhile the cmd.exe comes back. All the researching I have done tells me this is an old xp problem. I upgraded to Vista in September, 2007. I have tried all kinds of programs to find out what's starting this program but I can't figure it out.

I'm not a pro with computers but I know alot about them. I maintenance my computer regularly. I run Norton and Counterspy on a regular basis. I have tried Ccleaner, Whats Running, Run Analizer etc and I cannot figure out which program I have installed that is triggering this cmd.exe file.

Please help!

Please help!

Click start and click on the control panel.
Click "Control Panel Home" on the left pane of the window.
Under "Programs" click "Change startup programs"
If a window comes up saying "Windows Defender is off" turn it on.
Software Explorer comes up.
Locate cmd.exe and Disable it, then remove it.

Hope this helps, I strongly doubt it though.

I can't find cmd.exe in the start up files. I'm thinking it's something I'm running is using it but have no clue what. It's running right now after I ended the process after turning on my computer. Here is the copy... Could I just go into system32 and delete it? Will it mess anything up if I do that? It says it was installed on 5/24/08 and I checked my programs and nothing shows it was installed on that day. I'm guessing this is the day I started having this problem. Thanks for any help anyone can give me, I'll try anything to solve this problem.

Found in another forum, see if it helps.
Go to Control panel => system => advanced=> error reporting
Click disable error reporting

dumprep 0-k
Go to Control panel => system => advanced=>Startup and recovery => set write debugging info to none

Please look in start => programs => startup and see if cmd.exe is listed.

Also check the Startup folder and msconfig "Startup Tab"

To get to MSCONFIG go to Start, in the search box type
"msconfig"
Click the startup tab and check if you see CMD.EXE or Command Prompt. If you see it, uncheck the box next to it.

Good
