From x86 to x64, but made big mistake (activation problems)....

I was running Vista x86 and built a new cp which gave me this ability to run x64. I downloaded Vista 64x from a site, after hearing I can use my x86 Vista key with x64.
I installed the x64 version and didnt register right away, thinking id have no problem since I did in fact have a valid Vista Ultimate key. Well low and behold, ive come to the point where I have to register. I use the key and get the error basically saying the key wont work because it is for an Upgrade only, not clean install.
Now Im in a dilemma it seems. I dont believe it's possible to simply Upgrade and installation from x86 to x64. What are my options, if any, of Registering my Vista Ultimate x64 with my current key? I dont know how to go about this and sure as heck dont want to drop more money to purchase another key when mine is valid.

Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks Brink.
Only problem is, when I purchased Vista Ultimate, I only got the 32 bit download version. I downloaded the 64 bit version I had from a torrent site, figuring since I have a valid Ultimate license, there shouldnt be any problems.

So now, im not sure what to do to rectify this. I could install my 32 Vista version but I am pretty sure I cant Upgrade from 32 bit to 64. I think im screwed.

Chuck,

Depending on what type of Vista you purchased (Ex: Anytime upgrade, retail, OEM, etc..), you can check here to see if you are able to order a 64-bit Vista installation DVD for just $9.99 S&H directly from Microsoft.

I chose the anytime Upgrade. And unfortunately, I did this for both versions of Vista I have purchased.
Back in 2007, I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium. Last year, I purchased a Ultimate anytime upgrade.
So it appear, I am going to have to either find away to get a valid 64 bit version that is less than Ultimate, and upgrade to my purchased version of Ultimate.
