Vista sidebar? Whats all the fuss??

Does anyone use it? I tried it but i cant for the life of me see any real point in it , ive had cpu monitors in there , bandwidth monitors disk usage stats the weather even linked it up to Everest pro edition and still found it a waste of time , i cant even see it for 99% of the time cos who ever stares at their desktop? Open an app and its gone , or set it to display on top of all windows and it just becomes a pain thats always in the way?? Am i missing something? According to the interweb its one of the most popular features in Vista!!

I dont think you are missing anything i disable it as it uses unnecessary memory all the gadgets seem to be weighted towards the weather and system preformance if you like staring at numbers going up and down then i guess its for you.

Sorry i cant recommend any gadgets what about the jigsaw 1???? i mean come on!!

I don't use it either. I have completely removed it from my Vista installation.

A lot of people like to have it running so they can glance at their stock prices, or whatever.

Each to their own.

ha ha yeah whats that jigsaw thing all about , as for stock prices , if i had any money id be using to buy that GTX295!! That said now i have that Hobby Lounge link im gonna have to try it again , just because at the moment ive got nothing better to do Thanks :D

edit , just had a look at memory consumption , im a gamer so i like everything to be as good as it can get , it seems to stay the same at 29% , im running 4 gig's and as far as i can see its not using any cpu cycles (excessively) and it only seems to have 2 running process's

Ill have a run through a few COD 5 benchmarks see if it affects anything , if it doesnt i maight have just shot myself in the foot with post.i might try it for a while got a handy launch/docking station app in it and a multi function search bar along with the shutdown and restart options :P

Hey Archie, your sidebar looks good. I ran mine for about 4 weeks. I found no real use for it and shut it down. One less thing loading when I boot up.

its a pain if you load it a startup mate my rigs pretty fast but the sidebar takes a bout a minute to load after windows , i just run it after im booted , it starts up much faster , there seem to be some good little utilities out there for it now makes life much easier :D
