hm..... do you have cpu-z? if so it will show what it is
also pc-6400 will prolly work and right now it is dirt cheap about 4gigs for $15 so.... that is prolly your best bet![]()
Hi Rossy87,
Is this your PC?
Information and Instructions - IMEDIA MC 2470 - PB34338701 - iMedia - platform_honeymoon_imedia - Desktop
You'd be looking for either:
DDR2-533 (PC2-4300) CL 4
DDR2-667 (PC2-5400) CL 4
DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) CL 4
Your current RAM is DDR2-533 with a Cas Latency of 4 (CL4)
You can run most higher speed RAM as long as it 'drops down' to a lower speed that your motherboard can support.
ie DDR2-800 that will run at DDR2-533
If you plan to keep the existing 1 GB stick, whatever extra RAM you choose must support DDR2-533 with a Cas Latency of 4-4-4-12 or CL 5-4-4-12 which runs at 1.8v.
Mixing and matching different voltages and Cas Latency RAM is a recipe for trouble. I believe your mother board can support up to a maximum of 4GB.
Thanks Smarteyeball that has helped alot!
Would this be ok?
Corsair Vs1gb533d2 1gb Ddr2 533mhz: Amazon.co.uk: Your Store
Many thanks Ross
It doesn't show the sub-timings and voltage, but I'd say it would be fine.
Ok thanks that has helped massively. Would it do anything bad to my comp if it wasnt 1.8v??
Nothing damaging![]()
If for example that particular RAM required 1.9 / 2.0v to run, the worst thing that would happen would be system instability / BSOD.
There's a high chance it's 1.8 so I'd say it's a pretty safe bet it's fine![]()
good luckoh and smarty..... have you seen the 4 gigs of pc-6400 ocz sli edition @4-4-3-15 for $15? that is crazy cheap
That is crazy cheap![]()
