Is There a Fix or Do I Have to Restore OS

My ISP prompted me to download IE8 which I had, but quickly found it unstable. I contacted Qwest tech support and they told me I could uninstall and should revert back without issue (ha ha!) to IE7.

Long story short, I think everything works except when I try to switch users or log off and then it goes to the BLUESCREEN...

Here is the excerpt of the error message, but I'm not computer literate enough to understand it. I've tried resetting IE and ran a scan which indicated I had some errors:

Is there a workaround to this or should I just bite the bullet and back up my data to do a full OS restore as HP suggested?

You can undo the install If you have System Restore enabled. It created a restore point before Installing IE8.

Start> in search bar, type restore> click system restore program at top, and follow prompts.

Blue screens are caused by buggy/bad drivers or hardware issues. You can use this to do a diagnostic:http://www.eset.com/download/sysinspector.php

note-diagnostic hijack this by trend micro is not compatible with x64 Windows, and will result in false positive files listed as "missing" in the system32 folder.

The SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000003B. This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

Possible cause- Graphics card
This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

As stated before, everything seems to be working normally with the exception of being able to switch between users on this laptop.

How can I capture the error message that pops up on the blue screen whenever I try to switch users? Perhaps that would help in a diagnosis? I'm really trying not to have to do a complete reinstall if at all possible.

This is the update windows error message:

Did you remove it using the administrator account? Try logging into it and seeing if the error clears. I was able to remove IE8 with no issues.

Yes, it was removed using the administrator account. The only other user is my husband's account and he rarely uses this computer.

I tried disabling my antivirus before switching users, as this has been a known issue, but not in my case. Again while attempting to switch users, the computer shuts down and reboots.

Reboot and login with administrator account. Switching users does not finish an uninstall.

What is in the event viewer? You could clear all events by right clicking on each category. Once clear, reboot and you will only see the errors regarding this.

Not sure how to use the event viewer. I have it open but what do you mean by clicking on each category? My event viewer is open to the overview and summary page.

On the left hand side you see application, system, etc. Right click on each. Hit clear and don't save it. It will remove all events. Once done. reboot. Only the reboot events will show up. Then, we start with the earliest events.
