Hi there.

I have just downloaded speedfan 4.37 and done a test. My GPU is running at 75C!! I have a Nvidia Geforce 7300SE. I also have just a standard CPU fan. I have a thermal take case fan on order aswell. How else can i cool my GPU?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

WHOA.... thats hot hm... one of four things.... underclock it, add lots of fans, raise the fan speed, or get a new case with better cooling....

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

Yea as i said i got a thermaltake case fan on order. Will take on board about running fans at full speed.

What about one of those fans that you can put in the PCI slot?

hm... those would help.... but as much money as you would spend on fans you could get a better case

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

Hi Rossy87......

is this the first time you have ever checked your GPU temp..??, 75c is hot, not as a load temp, but idling that's insanely high....

d/l this app GPUZ & check the temps with this to confirm speedfan is reading correctly..

i'd use ''EVGA precision'' or ''Rivatuner'' to whack the GPU fan to 100%, you will also need to remove the card & clean it out, the HSF could be clogged with dust, or air flow within your case (i.e. fan config) needs serious attention...

cable management will also play a huge part in case temps, if its like a spaghetti junction in there then its gonna get hot......:p

let us know once you have confirmed the temps.....

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

Hi guys.

I have both GPUZ and Speedfan on my comp and are both saying the same temps.

After i got home from work today i took out my Video Card and cleaned out the fan on it and i am getting about 60C now. Everything else in my case is at about 40C ish.

I want to get a new case with better cooling but i am worried that if i swap everything from my old case into the new one that i am going to have problems.

Again any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks. Ross

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

Hi guys me again.

I am thinking of this case for a new build.
Cooler Master Elite 334 - Mid tower case

Now i know this is the wrong place to post this reply but we are taking about cooling here and i am thinking of this case as a view to cooling.

Again i know its the wrong place to ask but this case will fit my current mobo. so can i just drop all my hardware into the case, boot it up and away i go?

Many thanks. Ross

Re: GPU running very hot a idle.

correct me if im wrong, doesnt the 7300SE use passive cooling(no fan)? you could get an exhaust fan sucking air from the gpu and blow it out the back of the case, may be a cost effective solution to you.

hm... as far as a new case goes....... that looks ok but if it was me i would find one with more fans......... suck as the coolermaster haf case, or the NXZT tempest, or a thermaltake armor

Hi Ross, I believe your MSI Ms-7301 motherboard is a micro-atx sized board, so any case that supports micro-ATX will be fine to swap to. Most mid sized cases will fit both micro-ATX and ATX sized boards.

That case you linked to should be okay, but make sure you add a 120mm fan to the front. It looks like it only has a single rear 120mm installed.

Whatever case you decide upon should be determined by what your going to use your PC for and whether or not you plan to upgrade the components in the future.

If you plan to leave it as a normal non-overclocked PC, then that sort of case would be sufficient.

However, in the future should you wish to upgrade your components and perhaps over-clock, then a case with more airflow may be a better choice.

A friend of mine had one that had passive cooling as well, and it would reach stupid temperatures when playing things like San Andreas.
