Method 1.

Your floppy drive made this process easy.

Download the suitable Sata driver for your system from the manufacturer site. copy the downloaded drivers into a floppy. Boot from vista dvd.

Click on load drives option when it is asking for which partition to install. Browse to floppy drive which is having the sata driver.

Method 2.

Create a custom vista boot dvd with Nlite application. While creating the dvd include your downloaded Sata drivers.

Try to install...

error code 0X8007048F

I am still having trouble loading Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Delphin suggested downloading SATA drivers? to a floppy and running it during set up, when prompt to pick a drive. My new build is IDE w/ 160 gig Seagate and they do not show IDE drivers?
Original problem; new build, ASUS MB running 1.8GHZ AMD, 2ea 1024 ram, floppy and DVD rom, Seagate 160 gig IDE on primary ribbon as MASTER. When loading Vista I reach a point after product key, where it ask questions about my Hard Drive 0 w/no partion. Soon after I get the error code 0X8007048F and up-load stops. What drivers do I need to copy to a floppy? Seagate? ASUS? AMD?

Re: Vista install error code

There are a couple things we can check. In device manager, does the disk show up? If so does it show that it is working under properties?
You said you disabled some stuff in the Bios. Did you happen to check the disk drives in the bios to see that all the used ports where turned on. When I added a new HD to my rig, I had to go into the bios and turn the port on before it was seen.

Hope this helps,
Gary

Re: Vista install error code

I can not load the basic OS, so I have no device manager. On basic start-up I get to the part after entring the product key, sign the user agreement, I reach the part where it talks about disk driver "disk0 no partition 146MB etc and disk0 partitin 9mb etc." or somthing to this effect.
clicking Next, I get a popup installation was canceled
Windows cannot install required files. make sure all files for intallation are available and restart the installation. error code 0x8007048F.
As far as the BIOS, yes my driver shows up as primary master ( DVD is secondary slave), and I disabled serial address, and anti-virus.
It seems like I need a floopy with IDE drivers for my seagate HD? Seagate has alot of drivers, but they are way to big to go on a floppy, and i'm not sure if they would have the driver or files I need

U need to download the sata raid drivers for your mother board. In this case it is asus.

Download the driver for asus mother board. While downloading you need to specify the model no of your mother board.

good luck.
Edit.
One more thing i need to know is, U mentioned that u added a 20 gb hard drive. Is it sata or ide

Re: Vista install error code

Thought you had XP installed. If you do, you can get to device manager from there. Also I think you can check the bios in any case as this stuff doesn't use the OS. Won't hurt to just make sure it's not something simple like that.

Re: Vista install error code

Originally I started with a single 160g Seagate HD. When I started to have problems, I moved the 160 to the primary slave, and added a 20 g to the primary master (both IDE) and loaded XP on the 20g just to see if everything worked. XP loaded just fine. Then I reverted back to one drive (160 IDE) on the primary master, left the DVD on the secondary master and again tried to load Vista, and I’m back where I started, installation was canceled, Windows cannot install required files. Both of the ribbon cables are the high speed (80 pin 40 wire?) and the slave connectors are empty. Does this make sense and help?
