Total Data Loss + System Recovery Error

Hello, I am faced with a real big problem. Recently I've lost all my data due to a RAID problem and had to use a full system image backup I was able to make before the crash. Here's the catch: I use a Core2Quad with 2 SATA drives on RAID 0 and Vista X64 ultimate. I have the windows installation DVD. Since my backup is on a USB HDD I plug it in, windows system restore finds the backup image. However, when it should start to copy the files a error message appears saying I can't restore my backup because it was made on a X64 system and my computer is a X86 system. How come? Has my processor mutated or what? I really cound't find a way to bypass this and start the backup. Please, any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

Re: Total Data Loss + System Recovery Error

Did you reinstall Vista x64 or Vista 32-bit?

Re: Total Data Loss + System Recovery Error

I have the Vista X64 installation DVD, that's what I used. From that I run the system restore.

Hello Harravaril,

Was the Complete PC backup made from a 64-bit Vista, and did you select the Windows Complete PC Restore option in the System Recovery Options screen?

Re: Total Data Loss + System Recovery Error

Strange. You might go ahead and install Vista 64-bit, then run the Windows Complete PC Restore option afterwards at boot again to see if it will work then.
