OK, SO I have an eMachines 502MB Ram desktop coming to me soon from a pawnshop =). Anyways, it has Vista Ultimate preinstalled and I booted the computer at the shop to see if it works. It worked fine and I put it on layaway (1/2 up front). I was wondering it there could ever be problems with the computer?

Sure, like anything there can always be problems with it. You might ask if they have any type of warranty or return policy on it to see what you options may be if something does go wrong with it.
502MB of RAM may be a typo since it is usually 512 MB RAM instead at that size unless you have a integrated video chip that is using that small 10 MB of RAM to run.
Without the full specs of the computer, it is hard to say how fast it may run for you, but with only 502/512 of RAM, it's not going to run very fast at all though. Usually you would want at least 2 GB of RAM minimum with Vista for ok performance.

You may want to check the law about buying electrical items. In the UK anything bought from a shop that is electrical has a 1 year warrenty. Because you are buying second hand I do not know if this law applies though.

Not quite sure what you are asking?
Like above, anything can go wrong at anytime, it is hard to "Guess" what could go wrong.... 502mb of ram (Actually 512, something is using 10mb, probly video?) either that or the Pawn shop does not know what they are talking about.
Anyway, that much ram is nowhere near enough to run Vista smoothly. You may run into program issues running out of memory... which will make the machine hard to use, cause basically anything you open will use alot of memory, leaving multitasking almost unbearable. Which in turn could cause other issues, because windows will make sure it has memory for itself first and foremost... all other programs come second.
IMHO, I would get my money back, and get something else.... perhaps building a system of your own is a better route... it saves you money, and gives you a sense of satisfaction. I have heard bad things about eMachines....

Vista will be slower on those same system specs than XP since Vista was designed to make full use of a system's resources and it's a newer generation OS. You would be better off with at least 2 GB of RAM if possible.
If the computer was running fine in the shop, you should be ok though. However, just like with anything, there is always some small chance of some hardware or software failure. If it's something minor and inexpensive, you could always replace the bad hardware or reinstall the software.
If you wanted to add more RAM later on, then you can go to just about any electronic store (Ex: Best Buy, Frys, etc...) to purchase more RAM sticks. You will just need to look up your motherboard's specs to see what type of RAM is compatible with it, or provide the model number of your computer to us or the retail store to look up the information for you also.

This thread reminds me of a funny story BTW....This neighbor of mine, bought a new PC with 512mb ram... he one day decided he needed more... wentout and bout 6gb of DDR3 lol.... his MB and CPU didnt even support this...but anyway... he calls me over, and asks me to figure out why his new memory is not showing up in windows XP. I figure its cause XP only see's a certain amount...i go over, and XP shows 512mb...?
So im checking things out, shut down the PC to make sure the memory is seated correctly....i open the case and wow.

So I ask him where the memory is... he says "Oh its right here" and hands me a bag with the memory in it LMAO.

Next thing I see, he posted a negative review for the memory, stating that in the instructions it never said anything about physical installation, how he wasted hundreds of dollars for a useless product, and how XP never recognized his RAM. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

I agree about the pawn shop. Besides, unless all you are doing is using the internet and email, that system will not handle much.
