Does Vista download updates during its installation?

Hello all, I have always wondered if Vista's setup downloads any patches or updates during its installation process? Or does it need access to the internet for any reason? I have always installed Vista connected to the LAN , just in case.. Any ideas?

Vista installs as is, then updates itself.
The reason for this is because Vista would need a stable OS to perform updates, this can only be accomplished once it is installed.

Oh Ok, thanks for the answer.

I remember reading somewhere that Vista might download updated setup files during installation, but I have never been sure about this.
