I am getting the code 643 when I try to install the update for .NET 3.5 and also when I wan to install for the first time Windows Messanger. Another program I can not install is pinnacle studio ultimate, I get code 1603. All the indications for this 3 errors direct me to Windows Installer which handles .msi extentions. I do really need help on these issues

Thanks for your response and help. I already tried to un-install Windows Installer. In the Programs and Features of the Control Panel, is not listed. I installed Windows Install Cleanup utility and it's not listed there as well. I am afraid I would have to to use the delete file by file if I knew which ones they are. Do you...? or do you have any other suggestion so I can solve this frustrating problem..? Thanks again for your help.

:sarc: Of course you can't uninstall Windows Installer - it is integral part of system :sleepy:.Just download instalator for Windows Installer and install it (double click on it and follow the creator).

I downloaded the following file Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu but when I tried to install it, I got this message: "This upgrade does not apply to your system" so I thought I downloaded the wrong file so I got this file Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu but I got the same message "This upgrade does not apply to your system" so, then I got the next one Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-ia64.msu but I got the same message, so now I don't know which one I need. I know that my system is Vista Home Premium 64. What am I doing wrong..?
Now, I tried to install Pinnacle Video Driver and I got the error message 1706 which is related to the same problem being discussed now.

Thank you again for your tips, I am running Vista 64 SP1, not SP2 and the last error I mentioned in my previous message was not 1706, my apologies, it is 1719 sorry for the mistake. I'll work on the Repair Install see if I can find which one I need to use.
