Files disappear, Control Panel won't launch

Okay so I'm trying to follow the suggestions of how to properly ask for help.

I would consider myself computer literate, but barely so...perhaps just enough to be dangerous. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I run Windows Vista Home Basic on it. Last night after downloading and install NOD32 I started getting Bluescreen crashes everytime I used the internet. This happened about 8 times before I finally put it in safe mode and ran SystemRestore. I reverted back to one day prior and it resovled the bluescreen crashes; however, now I cannot open the control panel without Windows explorer failing to respond and anything I seem to save instantly disappears off of my desktop and cannot be found on the harddrive with an advanced search. Finally, there is some remnant of some program I installed last night still present called "Sprt Client Interface" running in the process area in the lower right. When I try to open it, it says windows cannot find bconte.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again."

I cannot all the specs but I have an Intel T2250 with 1G of RAM

I hope all this helps...please I need to be stuyding and I am at my wit's end with this. Thanks

Perhaps try re-installing the app and then uninstalling it before using a restore point. Let the uninstaller clean it up for you.

If that doesn't work, check msconfig>startup to see if you can stop the .exe from starting. You could also try checking the registry run keys, or searching the registry for bcont.exe and then remove it.

Make a backup of the registry first in case it doesn't help or work ;)

I'll do that. A quick update. So I think I in fact have a virus as my computer neither wants me to run my existing AVG app or allow me to do an online virus scan. I'm in the process of attempting one from Kaspersky Online. in the mean time I'll hunt down that file.

Thanks for the help.

I have been searching for the meaning and reason why the Sprt Client Inteface icon has suddenly appeared on my taskbar, as well. After some tracking, I have found that the website support.com was more helpful than supportsoft.com (SupportSoft.com was suggested by many in my search for "uninstall Sprt Client Interface"
In my case, I have found a folder in my program files named Support.com
I tracked this folder down to having been installed by Comcast (my new ISP).
I will be attempting to use the uninstall feature, found in the Support.com folder, and crossing my fingers that not only was I able to solve the issue for myself. That I was also able to assist others in doing the same.

Please feel free to wish me luck, as I am doing the same for you all.
Thank You
